The Aussie Perspective
By Brock "Aussie" Sisson
TNA Impact August 07, 2008
Well here we are ladies and gents, the second edition of The Aussie Perspective and we're looking at TNA for the 7th of August 2008
For the second straight week the introduction video and entrance themes have contained images from the TNA videogame.
Impact kicks off with Tenay in the ring promoting Hard Justice, he cuts to JB who promotes the Cage/Rhino and LAX vs Beer Money and Team 3D later tonight and he then cuts to Lauren and BG James who promote the 8 man gauntlet with weapons
The first match is a knockout bimbo brawl between Roxxi and Jacqueline with Traci brooks as the special referee, could this have something to do with what she told Jim Cornette to "think about" last week?
I know I said it last week but the TNA knockouts have gained my respect for what they're willing to go through compared to the women in other promotions that i've seen, after kicking a chair into Jacquelines face Roxxi hits the Voodoo Drop for the win.
Cage and Rhino are backstage with Lauren and they talk about how Team 3D are scared of Cage and Rhino as a team, scared of what they could do to their legacy as a tag team, Cage says he will never forget how he felt as he spent 4 hours in the emergency room getting the slivers of glass taken out of his back. Rhino wants to gore them through the glass table, if they want to play the game this way then they're in.
JB is telling Val that the case of the missing ring has been solved, Super Eric arrives to tell her that Sonjay did indeed steal it but she won't believe him. Sonjay Dutt is taking on CurryMan, seems as if the confrontation is imminent, Dutt as expected gets the win, during the match Val came out demanding answers about the ring. Post match Sonjay tries to escape but SharkBoy literally punches him into the ring and Super Eric is able to pull the ring out of Sonjays tights. Val starts screaming at him but Sonjay begs off saying that when she went to visit him in the hospital the ring fell, he's been keeping it under his pillow every night hoping it was a sign that she was ready to leave Jay and when he realised it was wishful thinking he was going to give it back to her. Val believes the speech and hugs him, Sonjay gives a great sigh of relief that only the fans and the PJB can see.
Team 3D and Beer Money are backstage with Lauren, Brother Ray talks about how Team 3D doesn't wrestle, they fight, they brawl and tonight they guarantee that Rhino will be going through a glass table. They call Storm and Roode the future of tag team wrestling and that Beer Money will pick up where they leave off. Storm takes the mic and says if they get in the ring they will hurt LAX and Cage/Rhino. They also say that they are the future TNA tag team champions.
Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed team up to face the MCMG. Yet again an excellent and fast paced tag match results in Lethal and Creed getting the win when Creed pins Shelley. Post match there are handshakes all around except when Creed goes to shake Shelleys hand he just shoves him and walks away, could this be a Shelley heel turn in the works?
We have another edition of Karens Angle, unfortunately this just took up a minute of tv time with her guest Frank Trigg essentially berating her, it's just everything we've heard before in a new setting, good time for a quick drink or something.
JB talks to Angle who talks about his history with AJ, how he took a nobody and made him into a somebody and he has the nerve to spit in his face and repay him by sleeping with his wife. He talks about how he is an olympic gold medalist and compares himself to the troops fighting in Iraq, he wants to hurt AJ tonight and he promises to be the last man standing at Hard Justice.
A short and sweet promo from The Beautiful People. They essentially talk up their new alliance with Kong and Sayeed and they promise to unleash her on Gail, ODB and Taylor at Hard Justice.
The first of two 8 man tag matches comes on with Cage/Rhino and LAX taking on Beer Money and Team 3D, in a good solid match Cage/Rhino and LAX get the win after Cage spits beer in Storms face allowing Hernandez to get the pin. Johnny Devine gives Brother Ray a kendo stick and he nails LAX, Cage and Rhino with shots, in the post match brawl Team 3D and Beer Money take control, the promised glass table comes into play but as Team 3D set Rhino up for the 3D through the table Beer Money deliver a double team powerbomb to Homicide through the glass table and Team 3D don't look happy with them.
In a squash match Kong destroys Salinas in under 30 seconds with an Awesome Bomb for the easy pin. Post match The Beautiful People mock Salinas "Aw look, Salinas got a boo boo" They then tell Kong to do it again and she hits Salinas with an implant buster. The Beautiful People tell Gail, ODB and Taylor that Salinas was just a preview, they run out and a brawl ensues which ends up with Taylor and Kong fighting, Kong gets the advantage and prepares to Awesome Bomb Taylor on a steel chair when Abyss comes out to rescue Taylor. He stares down Kong who is restrained by Sayeed but she then slaps him and Abyss grabs the chair but Sayeed escapes. A security guy comes to try and get the chair away from Abyss and gets the Black Hole Slam for his trouble.
I can't really see where this is leading since there is no way Spike will allow a man to put his hands on a woman, so unless eventually Abyss is going to snap again I don't see the point to this especially since if Abyss did snap it would seem as if the whole insane asylum angle would be wasted.
We cut to JB interviewing Booker who once again says Joe can't beat him and he proved it at Victory Road, at Hard Justice he will hurt Joe like never before. He came to TNA to prove he was the best and he promises that Sting will be at Hard Justice and he will be here tonight.
We go to Lauren with Joe to get his thoughts which are that Sting is a coward and why did he have to wait until tonight, why couldn't he show his face these last three weeks. In terms of Booker, he didn't go far enough at Victory Road he was merciful but his heart is cold and at Hard Justice he will go further then ever before and take possesion of his belt back.
After commerical AJ is talking to JB. AJ talks about being one of the guys who built TNA 6 years ago, he was there through everything not knowing rather they'd make it from one day to the next but they did and Kurt Angle decided to jump on the TNA bandwagon. AJ welcomed him with open arms, come on in Kurt. Now he sees Kurt as a punk who got lucky to win a gold medal and tells him to bring Trigg and bring Tomko because at the end of the day he will be the last man standing.
Time for the main event, our 8 man gauntlet match, until we get down to the last 2 guys elimination occurs when they go over the top rope and their feet hit the floor. As was to be expected when they come out 2 at a time the guys that came into the ring are currently feuding. We kicked it off with AJ and Angle then out came Morgan and Tomko followed by BG and Kip James then Joe and Booker. The big incident in the match and i'm pretty sure this is a planned spot that went slightly awry was when AJ and Kurt were fighting AJ sent Angle into a ladder and due to the way he hit Kurt starting bleeding like a gusher, too much for a planned spot in my opinion but it's definitely good viewing.
The match gets down to Joe and Tomko and Joe gets the pin with a muscle buster. He gets on the mic and tells Booker that he's coming for his belt and after he gets it he's going after STING!!!!!!!! Well ask and you shall receive I guess as Stings music hits and we do finally see him up in the rafters, Impact goes off the air with Sting staring down at Joe and Joe staring up at Sting.
This was the Aussie Perspective, thanks for reading.
