July 15, 2008 ECW Review by: Sangre

ECW from the land of scars to the land of new stars.

ECW last night was one of the best ECW's I have seen in a while, the segments, matches and the crowd were good.
Lets start with the opening segment, Recap of Colin being beaten up by Atlas and Dreamer being beaten up by Mark Henry. Then it cuts to Tazz in the ring standing hyping the GAB match.
Mark Henry comes out with Tony Atlas come down to the ring with a little crowd reaction. Tazz asks Atlas why he did what he did last week and Atlas explains how great Henry is and how he is a the worlds strongest man.
Atlas did a really good job hyping up Henry the crowd seemed to be booing allot. I am actually interested to see Atlas as Mark Henry's hype man, would make things allot more interesting. Then like the old days when Mark Henry first joined the WWE they had him do a little test of strength contest and bend a frying pan. Mark Henry bends the pan with ease and Atlas says how strong Mark Henry is.
I found that part interesting, seems like WWE needs to "prove" that Henry is the worlds strongest champion.
Dreamer ends up coming out and saying how he has been working out, that he could bend the pan. Dreamer didn't even come close to bending it and I sorta laughed when he smashed the pan over Henrys head.
After he did it Dreamer ran for his life, and the crowd cheered which was good. Teddy long making Dreamer leave didn't make sense but owell, I guess him assaulting the champ is a bad thing.

Mike Knox Vs Shannon Moore
This match was a mediocre match, don't get me wrong the match was good just no crowd reaction.
Mike Knox really seems to get no reaction's out of the fans. Shannon Moore got cheered every time he was on the offensive.
I like Shannon I feel he is a good worker and its a shame to see him job. Mike Knox on the other hand, he needs more charisma, seems the fans aren't really feeling him, he can move in the ring and all but no one really cheers for him.
The finisher he did at the end really annoyed me, it was one of those finisher that are more flash than anything.
All and All the match was about 3\5 for me.
Really hoping to see what they are gonna do with Mike Knox next, random jobber after Random jobber until the fans care? or will they throw him in a feud time will tell.


Chavo Guerroro vs Evan Bourne.
This match was a amazing match. The beginning was quick and had allot of fast passed moves and it seemed the crowd was really into it.
Seems that Bourne is getting a following with the fans after the past few weeks on ECW. Chavo worked really well with Bourne and thought the match was a well put on match.
Evan has allot of athleticism, I was impressed when he pulled of the standing moonsault on Chavo. Bourne winning the match was a big surprise to me seems they are gonna push Bourne to the ECW top.
Which is great, the man has athleticism, charisma, and in ring skill. Now it seems WWE has unbanned the shooting star press since Bourne is now using it as his finisher. Most likely this is because, in the indy scene he would use it allot and they probably feel comftorable letting him use it.
The match was a 5\5 and I hope to see allot more of Evan Bourne in the ring. I pick Evan as a future ECW champion.

Segment with Colin was interesting. Mark Henry and Atlas tell Colin everything is gonna be cool and Henry ends up beating Colin up.
Just seems they are trying to gain heel heat on Mark Henry and Atlas by beating up people.

They ended up reviewing the matches for GAB and I must say I am hyped for it. All the matches look good and am really excited to see how the matches turn up.
Now for the ECW match for the GAB my pick is Mark Henry retaining. Seems that they are gonna try to make a run with Henry and have him squash Dreamer in his home town just to ad more heat to him.
I actually love Mark Henry as a champion, I feel he fits the part of a unstoppable strength force and with a good hype man like Atlas I feel the fans are gonna start hating him more.


Hardy boys vs Miz and Morrison

The Hardy boys had huge pops from there home state crowd. The match was excellent, these men have allot of charisma and I would love to see a feud between these two teams for the tag titles.
The match went back and forth for a while and was enjoyable. The Hardy's did allot of there old school moves and it was impressive. The whole match the crowd was on there feet cheering. Miz did a good job in the ring and I feel he has greatly improved in the ring.
The ending of this match is what caught my eye, Jeff doing the swanton bomb on Morrison who was pinning Matt. Very original and it made it so that Miz and Morrison didn't really job out. With the Hardy's winning and the way the crowd reacted maybe one day we might see the Hardy's back for a good title run.
The match was a 5\5 easily

ECW pulled it off this week and had a excellent show with good segments and matches. ECW really has become a home for the up and coming stars in the WWE. People who would normally not get a chance to shine on SD! or Raw have a chance to show the fans of the wwe what there made of on ECW. Evan Bourne really showed that this week with his 5 star match with Chavo. Mark Henry showed that by proving he can be a successive heel champion. Let's hope in the coming weeks that ECW will continue to be this good. ECW was a 4\5 this week in my book everything flowed well. Well I hope you enjoyed reading my review of this weeks ECW.
